According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal collision occurred on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at approximately 3:38 p.m. near the intersection of South Melrose Drive and Breeze Hill Road in Vista.

Authorities say the 26-year-old man was riding an electric bicycle near the intersection when he crossed South Melrose Drive against a red traffic signal and was struck by a northbound vehicle.

The e-bike rider suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Tragically, he later died from those injuries.
